What is the Toast integration with DoorDash?

Toast is a restaurant POS and management system. Toast's partnership with DoorDash lets you accept and fulfill orders from DoorDash Marketplace, Online Ordering, and Caviar from your Toast POS.

How do I get started with the Toast integration process?

To get started, identify if you have:

  • Both an active DoorDash and Toast partnership

  • Only an active DoorDash partnership

  • Only an active Toast partnership

  • Neither of these partnerships

If you're unsure if you have a partnership with DoorDash, try signing in to the DoorDash Merchant Portal. If you see your desired store, this means you currently have a DoorDash partnership.

If you can log in but do not see your desired store, you may need to add an additional store.

If you are unable to log in, you don't currently have an active partnership with DoorDash. If you believe this is an error, reach out to DoorDash Merchant Support for assistance.

How do I set up Toast POS and DoorDash at the same time?

  1. Sign up for Toast POS and work with the Toast team to get your POS live — it takes about 20 days to sign up, and 1-2 months to go live

  2. Sign up for DoorDash

  3. Add the DoorDash integration in Toast Shop

  4. Select menus and pricing in the Toast Portal 

  5. Wait for Toast to set up your store and menus (typically 3–4 days) — you'll receive a confirmation email from Toast once they've completed this step

  6. Connect and activate your store in the DoorDash Merchant Portal

How do menus and store hours sync from Toast?

Optimize your menu for online ordering and update your store hours through your Toast POS. Make sure your Toast menu is set to visible for online order partners to ensure it updates on the DoorDash app. Certain parts of your menu won't sync from Toast to DoorDash and will need to be updated directly in the DoorDash Merchant Portal, including:

Time-specific pricing

Automatically adjust menu pricing based on time of day or the day of the week

  • This is often used for Happy Hour or Weekly Specials

Pre-modifiers

Add text before or after a modifier

  • Examples: no, extra, substitute, on side

Subgroups

Divide your menu further for easy navigation

  • This is often used for large menus

Prompt for quantity

Price items by quantity and specific units of measure

  • This is used for items sold by weight, like deli meat

I'm setting up a new Toast POS and I haven't received an email stating from the Toast team that store and menu setup is complete

It typically takes three to four days for the Toast team to set up your store and menu. If you haven't received an email from the Toast team stating that they've completed setup after three to four days, reach out to Toast Customer Care.

I can't activate my DoorDash store

If you can't activate your DoorDash store after completing all other Toast integration process steps, please reach out to DoorDash Merchant Support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you add the DoorDash integration from Toast Shop, your DoorDash integration onboarding process will begin. You may continue receiving orders through your aggregator until your store is live on the Toast integration. No additional action is needed, though it's recommended that you work with your aggregator to let them know you are moving to a direct integration. You should NOT cancel this aggregator until you receive confirmation from DoorDash that you’re ready to be live on the Toast integration. 

All DoorDash orders are sent to Toast with the “Takeout” dining option instead of “Delivery.” If you want DoorDash orders to be specifically listed as Takeout/Pickup or Delivery, please contact DoorDash Support and we’ll enable this feature for you. As of now, it’s only available on an opt-in basis. 

No, self-delivery is not supported with the Toast integration.

DoorDash promotions are not supported through your Toast POS. You’ll have to set up and manage DoorDash promotions directly through the DoorDash Merchant Portal. When a customer uses your promotion, it will only be visible in your DoorDash financial reports. Your Toast POS will not show the promotional discount.
