How do I edit an item's price in the Merchant Portal?

Mx - Portal - Menu - Add Item

If you manage your menu directly in the Merchant Portal (not through a POS integration), follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal

  2. Select Menu Manager

  3. Under the Overview tab, select the pencil icon next to the item you want to update

  4. Update the item price, then select Save Changes

Keep in mind, Save Changes only appears after you've made an edit. If your store uses dual pricing, you may see separate price fields for pickup and delivery.

How do I update menu prices if I use a POS system?

If your menu is synced through a POS system, price changes must be made in your POS.

What to do

  1. Check with your POS provider for instructions on updating DoorDash menu prices

  2. Update the item prices in your POS system

What to expect

  • Price updates can take up to 24 hours to appear in the Merchant Portal

  • If prices don't update after 24 hours, contact Merchant Support

We recommend matching in-store and delivery prices as closely as possible, but this isn't required.

If your POS provider doesn't support dual pricing, you can manage pricing directly in the Merchant Portal under Settings Account Settings Menu Pickup and Delivery Rate.

Does pricing impact my visibility on DoorDash?

Yes — pricing is one of several factors customers consider when choosing where to order, along with ratings, order accuracy, popularity, and delivery experience

Clear, consistent pricing helps set accurate expectations for customers and can support better order conversion.

Do my in-store prices need to match my DoorDash menu prices?

No — your in-store prices don't need to match your DoorDash menu prices.

That said, keeping prices aligned when possible can help reduce customer confusion. If you offer different prices for pickup and delivery, dual pricing allows you to clearly display those differences.

Why is pricing considered for Most Loved restaurants?

Pricing is one of many signals customers evaluate when deciding whether to reorder from a store.

Restaurants that consistently deliver good value — along with strong ratings, reliable fulfillment, and quality food — are more likely to earn repeat orders, which contributes to eligibility for programs like Most Loved.

How do I edit prices as a non-restaurant merchant?

If you're a grocery, convenience, retail, or other non-restaurant merchant, the process for editing prices is the same:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal

  2. Click on Inventory Manager

  3. Select the three-dot icon to the right of your item, under Actions

  4. Update the pricing, then click Save Changes

If your menu is POS-managed, you can update prices directly in your POS system.

How do tax rates factor into menu prices?

Tax rates are considered on all menu items. Make sure everything you sell on DoorDash is taxed correctly based on your local regulations. Tax laws vary by location, so it's a good idea to review your tax settings regularly.

For step-by-step instructions, see how to update the tax rates of your menu items and store. If you're unsure about your tax requirements, consult a tax professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each customer experience on DoorDash is unique. Among other factors like popularity, speed, order accuracy, and beyond, menu pricing is one variable that affects visibility for restaurants.

DoorDash does not require restaurants to match in-store prices on delivery orders. Restaurants can continue to make their own delivery menu pricing decisions and assess the trade-offs between volume and unit margins.

That being said, DoorDash encourages restaurants to maintain consistent prices to maximize growth. While DoorDash does not require delivery prices to match in-store prices, we recommend pricing as close to in-store as possible. While it may seem like higher margins could increase your profits, our data suggests this is not necessarily the case. Based on a 2023 internal one month study of over 4500 small- and medium-sized restaurants, those that inflate their menu prices on DoorDash saw an up to: 37% reduction in sales, 59% reduction in conversion rates, and 78% reduction in re-order rates.

The Most Loved program recognizes and rewards the top-rated and most reliable restaurants on DoorDash, making them eligible for more in-app visibility, recognition, and other exclusive perks. In order to be considered for the Most Loved program, menu prices must be comparable to in-store prices, alongside a variety of other operational metrics.
